Gov. Andrew Cuomo is pushing for more New Yorkers to get tested.

In Monroe County, more than 1,200 tests are being performed daily.

So, who’s eligible for diagnostic testing? News10NBC checked the facts and it includes:

  • Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or has come in contact with a person who tested positive
  • Health care workers
  • Nursing home workers
  • First responders
  • Any essential worker who directly interacts with the public
  • Anyone who is heading back to work in phase one of the state’s reopening plan

Cuomo took the test himself during a virus briefing to show people how easy it is to take. He stressed testing is the key to controlling the spread of the virus.

Cuomo added testing the best way to monitor the virus as the state reopens.

“This test is not an invasive test,” Cuomo said. “It is fast, it is easy.”

The state can now handle 40,000 COVID-19 tests per day.
