An area non-profit is doing its part to help people get access to adequate food in Luzerne County during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Clubhouse Econo-Rhinovations Incoporated, which works with the commission on economic opportunity for food distribution is asking for help.

It’s in need of volunteers to help distribute food in Jenkins Township at the township fire station on May 1st.

The organization’s president says she needs at least 10 more volunteers to feed nearly 1,200 people who are in need of food.

“Last month we got 690 families and because everyone was so afraid we only had seven volunteers and then it rains and it was more difficult. What I would like to do is ideally have at least ten volunteers that I could definitely count on,” says Careen Pourmonir.

The non-profit distributes food the first Friday of every month.

If you’re interested in volunteering, Pourmonir says you can reach out to her by calling (570) 899-8970 or contacting via her Facebook page.
