Sources tell 13WHAM News the former superintendent of the Brockport Central School District will be named the next superintendent of the Rochester City School District.

Dr. Lesli Myers-Small served as the superintendent of the Brockport School Dsitrict for seven years before assuming the role of the New York State Education Department’s Assistant Commissioner of School Reform and Innovation earlier this year.

Myers-Small would succeed Terry Dade in the superintendent’s office. Dade recently resigned, less than 10 months after starting in the superintendent’s office, to accept a superintendent role in a downstate school district.

The district is currently in the midst of dealing with a multi-million-dollar deficit. Dade’s proposed 2020-2021 budget for the district would call for hundreds of cuts in the district – including nearly 280 teaching positions.

The Rochester School Board is expected to vote on the budget Thursday night.
