Monroe County Jail cautiously begins allowing visitors with restrictions

(WHAM) – For the first time in nearly four months, inmates at the Monroe County Jail will be able to see visitors.

Visitations were halted in mid-March at correctional and detention facilities across the state due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting Monday, July 6, inmates will be able to resume non-contact visits. Those visits come with stringent limitations, including wearing a mask and exercising social distancing guidelines.

Each inmate will be limited to one visit per week, with visits lasting 30 minutes. Visitors will be required to have their temperatures checked and screened for flu-like symptoms. Each visitors will be given a mask by jail staff and must wear it during their entire visit. No outside masks will be allowed.

There can be no more than one adult visitor and one child visitor allowed during one visit. Infants and young children who are unable to wear masks are not being allowed as a precaution.

 

All visits must be scheduled ahead of time; walk-up appointments will not be allowed. Visits can be scheduled online at the Monroe County Jail websiteor by calling (585) 753-4000 Monday – Friday between 8:45 a.m. and 12 p.m.
